What to Expect at Disney World in November
November is one of the most unique months of the year at Walt Disney World. It marks a transition between the fall atmosphere and the early holiday cheer, offering something special for every type of visitor. From lighter crowds early in the month to festive events later on, there’s a magic in the air that’s spreading all around its own. Whether you’re looking to escape the chill, celebrate the holidays a little early, or simply enjoying the parks with a slightly more relaxed vibe, this month has a lot to offer. And with our expert tips and insights, you’ll be fully prepared to make the most of your vacation.
Crowds and Busiest Days to Avoid in November
November generally brings moderate crowd levels, but timing is everything. The beginning of the month often has lower wait times and quieter days an ideal window for anyone looking to explore without the peak-season pressure.
However, keep an eye on these key busy dates:
Tuesday, November 11, 2025: Veterans Day: Expect moderate crowds as some schools are closed for the holiday. This can lead to a slight spike in attendance as families take advantage of the long weekend for a quick getaway. While it won’t be busy as Thanksgiving week, it’s still smart to arrive early and book popular experiences in advance.
Saturday, November 22, 2025: Epcot International Food and Wine Festival Ends: Expect a surge in EPCOT as locals and foodies flock to the park for the final weekend of this fan-favorite festival. Lines for food booths may be longer than usual, and weekend crowds will increase.
Saturday, November 22 – Sunday, November 30, 2025: Thanksgiving Week: One of the busiest periods of the month. Expect higher crowd levels, especially in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Families make the most of the holiday break to visit Walt Disney World with dining reservations may be harder to snag, and navigating the parks requires more patience and flexibility. If you’re visiting during this window, planning ahead is essential to make the most of your time.
If possible, plan your visit during the first two weeks of November. It’s one of the best-kept secrets for lower crowds, great weather, and early glimpses of holiday magic.
What to Expect from the Weather and What to Pack for Disney in November
The Florida heat eases off in November, creating a much more comfortable experience in the parks. Average high temperatures settle in the mid 70 degrees Fahrenheit, while the evenings and early mornings can dip into the upper 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The humidity also tends to drop this time of year, making it one of the most pleasant months for outdoor activities.
Packing layers is key. You’ll want light sweaters or hoodies for the early mornings and evenings, and breathable clothes for the warmer midday sun. Even though November is one of Florida’s drier months, it’s always smart to bring along rain gear like a light rain jacket just in case a pop-up shower hits. Footwear is just as important. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for clocking in those park miles, and consider bringing an extra pair in case of rain. Don’t forget sunscreen and sunglasses; the sun is still strong, even when temperatures are cooler. For travelers from colder climates, the Florida “cool” is often refreshing and perfect for park touring.
Seasonal Events and Holiday Celebrations in Novmeber at Walt Disney World
November offers a mix of festive events that transition guests from fall into the holiday season.
Early November (2025 TBD): Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
It’s an unforgettable experience for guests of all ages, filled with festive music, lights, and sweet treats and held on select nights in Magic Kingdom (TBD for 2025), this includes:
Once Upon a Christmastime Parade
Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks
Complimentary cookies and cocoa
November 8th or 9th - December (2025 TBD): Disney Jollywood Nights
Also returning in early November (2025 dates TBD), Disney Jollywood Nights is Hollywood Studios’ take on a festive evening event with a glamorous twist. This separately ticketed After Hours experience delivers a vintage-inspired holiday vibe with old Hollywood charm. Guests can enjoy a live stage show featuring Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, DJ-hosted dance zones throughout the park, and a wide selection of holiday-themed snacks and beverages. Character meet-and-greets are elevated with festive attire, and lower crowd levels mean more time to take in the holiday magic without the usual hustle.
Seasonal Festivals at EPCOT
EPCOT shines in November with a seasonal overlap that makes the park even more exciting.
Food & Wine Festival (Through November 22, 2025)
This beloved festival features over 25 global marketplace booths with small plates and drinks from around the world. Guests can participate in Emile’s Fromage Montage cheese crawl challenge, enjoy the family-friendly Remy’s Hide & Squeak scavenger hunt, and catch live music during the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. EPCOT's Food & Wine and Holiday Passport books, themed apparel, and scavenger-hunt merch are typically found at festival-centric shops and kiosks. As the festival winds down, weekends get busier, so try to visit during weekdays or earlier in the day for a more relaxed experience.
Festival of the Holidays (Begins November 28, 2025 – TBD)
Starting just days after Food & Wine ends, this event transforms EPCOT into a holiday celebration of cultures. Holiday Kitchens offer traditional dishes and seasonal treats from around the globe. The Candlelight Processional brings in celebrity narrators to share the story of Christmas, accompanied by a full choir and orchestra. Beacons of Magic on Spaceship Earth are adorned with festive lights and music, and Merry & Bright Nights returns to Living with the Land. Storytellers throughout the World Showcase share customs from their respective countries, making this festival a cultural highlight.
Entertainment, Decorations, and Photo Ops
November features some of the most stunning park transformations of the year.
Park Decorations: Each park dazzles with festive decorations, from oversized Christmas trees to themed garlands and sparkling lights. Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom each have their own unique flair, offering something different in every park.
Photo Ops: Expect Magic Shots with holiday overlays, seasonal backdrops, and nighttime portraits under festive lights.
Character Sightings: Characters appear in festive outfits throughout the parks, adding an extra-special touch to your meet-and-greets. Whether it’s a backdrop of twinkling lights or a festive Mickey bar in hand, you’ll find no shortage of holiday photo ops.
Ride Closures and New Attractions
November continues the trend of ride refurbishments and attraction updates often seen in the off-peak season. While some closures are expected, there’s excitement in the air with new additions on the horizon.
Zootopia: Better Together (Tree of Life show at Animal Kingdom) — This is likely to debut around November 26, 2025. This immersive addition brings beloved characters from the world of Zootopia into an engaging, family-friendly format that celebrates connection and community.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom): Remains closed for a major refurbishment that is slated to continue into 2026. This long-term closure is part of an extensive update to one of Disney’s most iconic rides.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin (Magic Kingdom): This will continue to be unavailable through 2026. This refurbishment aims to modernize the interactive elements of the attraction and enhance its overall guest experience.
Guests are encouraged to use the My Disney Experience app to stay up to date on all ride statuses, including any unscheduled downtime or additional closures that may pop up throughout the month.
How to Save: Budget Tips and Disney Discounts
Visiting Disney World in November can be easier on the wallet, especially in the first two weeks of the month. Resort rates and airfare generally climb as Thanksgiving approaches, so flexible travel dates can yield big savings.
While standard After Hours events pause in November, they are replaced by separately ticketed holiday parties like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights. These events offer incredible value with exclusive entertainment, included treats, and much smaller crowds than daytime visits. If these are in your budget, they can be the highlight of your trip. Additionally, keep an eye out for fall resort discounts and seasonal promotions. Disney often offers packages that include promotional dining credits or reduced room rates. Special offers are typically available for Annual Passholders, Florida residents, and U.S. military members—including discounted theme park tickets and hotel rooms.
It pays to plan ahead, compare offers, and book early if possible. With the right strategy, you can enjoy premium experiences without breaking the bank.
Know Before You Go
Here are my personal tips after spending years navigating Disney in November:
Arrive early to holiday parties. The earlier you get there, the more you'll accomplish before midday crowds kick in.
Book key dining reservations ASAP. Popular restaurants fill fast, especially during Thanksgiving week.
Pack a portable charger. Between using the app, taking photos, and mobile ordering, your phone will need it.
Dress in layers. You’ll be glad you did when that sun sets.
Stay flexible. Weather in Florida can change quickly, and so can crowd patterns. Also with EPCOT festivals transitioning mid-month, keep an open mind for changes in booths or offerings.
Use Mobile Order strategically. Festival booths and popular quick-service spots get busy.
Avoid park-hopping during Thanksgiving week. Save time and sanity by sticking to one park per day when crowds spike.
No matter when in the month you visit, November delivers a magical balance of celebration, comfort and experiences that will bring magic to the whole family!
